POLYTECT’s contribution to the scientific community was evident at the 4th International Conference on Strucutral Health Monitoring of Intelligent Infrastructure held in Zurich, Zwitzerland, 22-24 July, 2009 as 4 papers were presented specific to POLYTECT technical achievements.  Separately, consortium members presented 4 other papers regarding SHM bringing the total contribution of consortium members to this event of 8 papers.  Notably, project partner SMARTEC officially launched “SHM Live” at this conference making SHM more accessible to clients worldwide.  The four papers specific to POLYTECT were entitled:

“Distributed Polymer Optical Fiber Sensors in Geotextiles for Monitoring of Earthwork Structures” presented by Sascha Liehr of BAM and representing the work of BAM, Gloetzl, and Alpe Adria Textile. 

“Smart Textiles for SHM of Geostructures and Buildings” presented by Riccardo Belli of SMARTEC and representing the work of SMARTEC, and the University of Kassel.

“Distributed polymer optical fiber sensors integrated in technical textiles for monitoring of masonry structures” presented by Sascha Liehr of BAM and representing the work of BAM, the University of Karlsruhe, and STFI.

“Industrial Smart Material Applications: The POLYTECT Project and its expansion into the IMS Program” presented by Thomas Messervey of D’Appolonia and representing the work of all project consortium members.
