POLYTECT - Polyfunctional Technical Textiles against Natural Hazards

You've reached the homepage for POLYTECT, a partially-funded European Community project under the "Integrated Research Project for Small to Medium Sized Enterprises (SMEs)" program as part of FP6.  This project is developing and producing sensor-embedded textiles for use in geotechnical and masonry applications.  A more complete desciption can be found under Project Description.

Alternatively, see our Polytect Project Brochure or Project Fact Sheet for additional information.  These can also be found in the Public Documents area above along with an early powerpoint presentation.

Who we are. Polytect is made of 27 project partners from 13 different countries with expertise in topics ranging from and including: sensors, textile fabrication, software, resins, polymers, nanoparticles, fibre optics, health monitoring, software development, masonry, chemical sensors, innovations, and other areas of research. A list of the project partners, point-of-contact information, and links to their respective websites is located under Project Partners.

We are in the process of building two e-learning platforms. These are located above under “PolyPage” and “Virtual Demonstration Center” in the Polytect Tools area.  Both require a user subscription (free of charge) which can be completed at the link to the left. The PolyPage is a wiki-type page built by our project partners concerning project materials. Virtual Demonstration Center is an interactive e-learning environment with “lectures” and “exams.”   Although you may not see much in these areas during your visit today, check back as they will be built and modified continuously from June 2008 – June 2010.

We conduct and are interested in European as well as International Collaboration. If you have an interest or have questions concerning the material on this website, please contact any of our partners at the addresses in the project partners section, or directly to the project managers at [thomas.messervey@dappolonia.it (assistant PM) or donato.zangani@dappolonia.it (PM)].
